How do u make a death (bird) mask wore by the doctors during the black plague?

this is my english project


i'm trying to spend as little money as possible for it.


here r the things i think i might need:


paper MARCHE (to make the mask)


if there is anything else you think i need please tell me.


i also need to know how to make the mask, the beak part and how to connect it to my mask?

Buy a cheap plastic mask from a costume place to build off of. It will cost only a buck and so and make the process so much less work for you. You will need to make some kind of an armature for the nose or it will collapse (or get too heavy). Using a wire that you can easily manipulate would be good, they sell that stuff in rolls or mesh sheets at arts stores. If you are crafty enough and are good at shaping things you may be able to cut the nose out of two pieces of very stiff paper creating a tent like structure and paper-mache over it.


I don't suggest using a flour and water mache recipe. It's harder to work with and will dry out as you're using it. Use plain old white glue watered down to a consistency that you are comfortable with (or at least add some glue to the flour mix). It will dry flexible, less likely to crack or chip paint off when you are finished.
