There is a Mosque down the road from me. The local ';spiritual leader'; compared Australian women who do not wear the hijab as ';uncovered raw meat left out in the street'; ~ or something. He is a vile man, truth me known and doesn't belong here if he continues to make such inflammatory statements.

At first you are forced, then when it happens often enough it becomes a social norm and you start to accept it as a way of life and then later you even embrace it.
They choose not to be beaten up on the street for not wearing it. Not much of a choice.
OK the ';ninja mask'; is called a nikab ..abaya ....and its really culture and not religion...they aren't required in Islam to cover their face...but know that some Muslims don't even wear scarves and dress in jeans and a skirt...its not all of them that wear it some wear a skirt shirt and a scarf or pants shirt and a scarf ...I know because I'm Muslim ;)

this is not a religious issue, this is a cultural issue. in no place does the quran say to cover your face. personally i believe it even is a sin to go that far. It's a wahabi thing.

i know some woman who was asking me to convice her husband to let her wear what u call ninja, but the husband didnt want her too

Problem is that most people comes with their own cultural mindset and think that it is impossible for a woman to want to be in abaya by herself. In the same way some muslim woman think that western woman chose to expose her body just because of pressure from society and envoronment created by media. They feel that woman are just an object of public entertainment in the west.





I as a muslim always gave option for my wife to open her face if she wants which she refuse. And reason was not really religion, but she is brought up that way and she gets uncomfortable when she feels that men can stare at her.
