Melasma or chloasma is a brownish discoloration of the face that occurs most often in women. Men can also develop this problem. The brown color often fades in winter and gets worse in the summer. Do not use skin lighteners or bleaching creams containing steroids. These can cause permanent skin damage including permanent redness, thinning and blood vessel streaks. Also avoid skin lighteners or bleaching creams containing mercury as this is a poison. My mom has sun spots (age spots) and what she uses is Arbonne NutriMinC RE9 Night Cream and it contains a natural enlightner called cojic acid or something like that and her arms are just amazing ....this should be applied at nightime only and during the morning you just apply a sunblock of SPF 30 maximum... never use SPF over 30 because this will cause an irritation since it will have a great deal of chemicals.... anyway, these products from arbonne are really good since they are based on botanical principles and formulatted without mineral oil (2nd worse thing we could do to our skin) and main causes of spots and lines (after the sun - 90% of the lines are caused by the sun and the other 10% are caused by the use of mineral oil like petrolatum) I am so sorry for so much info but had to help you some way ;~) ....
